SAUNA BLANKET TROUBLESHOOTING
If you are finding that your Heat Healer is not hot enough or if you are not sweating, then please follow these steps below.
In most instances, some simple checks and changes will resolve the issue.
For example, the two most important things you can do to ensure you get the most heat, is to pre-heat for longer and ensure you have a large towel draped over your shoulders to trap in the heat (see our image in Part Three below for the best way to place the towel over your shoulders to keep in the heat).
Part One: Basic troubleshooting steps
- Disconnect the controller from the blanket and unplug from the power supply, then reconnect everything back together. Sometimes if the controller is not firmly connected to the blanket, it can lead to performance issues.
- We have seen that old or low quality extension cords or power boards can cause performance issues, so please test plugging the Heat Healer directly into the power socket on your wall.
- Make sure to have your temperature setting at Level 9, which is the maximum temperature setting.
Part Two: Setting your blanket up correctly
- Make sure you are using your Heat Healer on an insulated surface like a rug, carpet, bed or yoga mat. This will ensure heat stays within the blanket and does not escape into the floor.
- Pre-heating is essential. 15 minutes is the minimum, but the longer you allow the Heat Healer to pre-heat, the hotter it will become. 30 minutes of pre-heating may be required in winter time, if the air is cold and if you want to ensure your Heat Healer is reaching its maximum heat.
- Just like an ordinary sauna, the Heat Healer will take time to warm up. This is especially true in the colder months or if your room is particularly cold (we recommend using the Heat Healer in a room with normal ambient air temperature of 65f-75f).
Part Three: Trapping in the heat
- Keep a large towel draped over your shoulders where the opening is at the top of the blanket. Doing this will trap in the heat and ensure it does not escape out the top.
- When you enter the blanket, try to enter from the top without opening the blanket fully. Opening the blanket fully will just let out heat unnecessarily.
Part Four: Priming your body to sweat
Whilst your Heat Healer is pre-heating, we recommend priming your body to sweat. You can do this by:
- Having a warm shower before your sauna. This will help to open your pores and activate your sweat glands.
- Staying well hydrated (a warm cup of tea is perfect).
- Try dry brushing your skin. This will help to rejuvenate your skin, as well as activate your lymphatic system.
- Engage in light cardio exercise to get your heart rate up and your blood flowing (this is optional, but it is a great way to kick-start your sauna session).
There is such a thing called "being sauna fit", which refers to your body progressively adapting to sweat better over time with consistent use of heat therapy. If you are not sweating right away, that's ok. It may just take time for your body to adjust over time.
Next steps
If you have followed these instructions and find that your Heat Healer is just simply not getting hot, then please reach out to us and let us know.
The simplest way to know if your Heat Healer is not getting hot is to let it run a full cycle (ie, 60 minutes) with no one inside, just like you would if you were pre-heating it.
At the end of a full cycle, if you place your hand into the blanket and feel the stones and materials, you should immediately know whether the blanket is working or not, as the materials should be quite hot to touch after 60-minutes.
